3 Colonic Irrigation

A colonic irrigation, often called Colon Hydrotherapy, was one of Edgar Cayce's favorite therapies. He wisely called it an "internal bath" and recommended it over 1350 times.

It usually was done first to cleanse the blood and lymph and "revitalize the liver" before having spinal adjustments, taking herbal formulas or tonics and making dietary changes or fasting. A cleaner body will respond more quickly and effectively to other therapies. Cayce said the colon gets rid of 74% of all toxins in the body.

A professional machine with a sterile, disposable hose kit gently fills and then empties the colon with body temperature water many times to help remove mucus build-up and stimulate sluggish colon muscles.

An initial series of three to six sessions, one to four weeks apart, may be required to reach the five feet average length of the colon. The frequency of maintenance colonics is up to each individual.

A castor oil pack is helpful, but not mandatory, for three days before a session to "help loosen pocket matter, move lymph and reduce inflammation"

Herbal colon cleansers can be helpful to soften old, hard, rubbery mucus that adheres to the colon wall.
